The Nonsuch Netball League was formed in the 2008-09 season with the support of the Surrey County Netball Association and ‘Grass Roots’ funding from the Surrey Community Foundation. The Netball League was set up at Nonsuch School, Cheam to enable local junior netball clubs to offer competitive play to their member’s , no matter how small the club. In our first season we held 4 fixtures with 11 founder clubs entering 42 teams in 5 age groups, from a High 5s (U11) section to U15s. This was the first League to offer a High 5s section in Surrey.
Now in its seventh season the League has grown enormously in popularity. In the present 2014-15 season we hold 12 fixtures, encompassing more than 20 clubs and over 100 teams. At least 600 girls will participate in the League this year. With A & B Divisions in all age groups, the emphasis is to encourage a high standard of competition together with an ethos of participation and ‘fair play’ between the clubs and players.
As a successful League we are at maximum capacity this season, however with the support of our Surrey Netball Development Officer we hope to find a way of continuing to grow to meet the ever increasing demand of local netball clubs.
